Another amazing Canon Click West Awards night at the cinema last night. The thrill of seeing your images on the huge screen is awesome, and the slideshow of entries was truly inspiring, plenty of talent in the room.
The awards are run by the Western Australian Photographic Federation (WAPF) and all affiliated camera club members are eligible to enter. They are supported by amazing sponsors with a fantastic prize pool. The competition has 4 different categories: Landscape, Mono Architecture, Portrait and Macro. I love that the comp gets me shooting new things, and its been fun to challenge myself in genres that I'm less comfortable in (portrait especially, "I don't do people"!).
I am Click West obsessed, and not just in the few weeks leading up to the entry deadline, but pretty much all year. Entries are not allowed to have been entered in other competitions, so I "save" my favourite shots. I'm not joking when I say I already have a couple of shots in my Click West 2015 folder!!
Well my perseverance and obsession paid off last night. I had done loads of Architecture shots through the year, and struggled with narrowing down my selection. I was thrilled to take out a category win (and thankful I entered that one, as it nearly stayed on the reserve list!). Even more exciting was placing 3rd for overall portfolio (and maintaining a top 3 position in all 3 years of the Awards!). Fabulous to share the podium with friends too, with a great cheer squad in attendance :-)
