Last year was the first Click West Awards, and I was surprised and delighted when I won first place in the landscape category and third in portfolio. I knew this year the competition would be tougher, and the sponsors had really come up trumps again with some amazing prizes on offer. I was actually a little bit obsessed all year, and really worked hard on my weaker categories of mono and portrait.
Well, the perseverence and obsession certainly paid off on Thursday night. The entries are shown at the cinema and look amazing on the big screen. The Perth photographic peeps are a great bunch, and it was great to catch up with friends and share in everyone's success. The big winner was the extremely talented and very lovely Tina Bartley, who had vowed revenge all year. She got her wish, taking out a couple of categories, and winning the best overall portfolio (she will be cruising in the Kimberley's next year as a result). My eyes were always on the second prize, and I still can't believe I won it!!!! What a second prize, a Canon EOS 5D III + 24-105 lens. Icing on the cake was my good friend Sue-Ann taking out third (and picking up a fabulous Sigma 35mm prime), and my other shooting partner (Nicole, funniest friend ever) making the finals in Portfolio. I love these girl's, they not only constantly inspire me, but they make photography so much fun.
Enough of my waffle, here's my portfolio. The landscape also placed 3rd in category and for that I won a lifetime membership to Peter Eastway's Better Photography Landscape MasterClass (I have heard wonderful things about this course). So last year I won Tony Hewitt in the flesh for a day, and this year I won Peter Eastway online for ever!!! :-)
