Rottnest Island

Had a fabulous weekend at Rottnest Island, my first visit to the picturesque holiday island close to Perth. I love that the Island has not been over-developed, but has an array of fabulous beaches and bays.

The weekend began with a 10 minute joy flight over the Island, a bargain at $38 and highly recommended. A tight squeeze to get the right angle for photos, but with clear skies, we were able to capture some wonderful scenery.

The most popular form of transport around the island is bicycle, but its quite hard work if you have a backpack full of camera gear and a tripod! We took advantage of the Bayseeker Explorer bus service, which allowed us to see the whole island, walking between beaches and enjoying the scenery. The winter sunshine was fabulous, really highlighted the colours in the ocean and reef.

Here are a few off my favourites from the trip, and there are a few more in the gallery.

Of course, as we stayed over for a couple of nights, we were also able to enjoy sunrise and sunset over in Rottnest.
